Kenny grows up in, and eventually leaves a bizarre matriarchal cult. But now he misses all his old friends. Should Kenny return? Hilarious and sometimes dark memories are woven together with reflections on recovering, and vignettes from his dysfunctional life in the outer world, often struggling with PTSD, but remaining lighthearted.

I believe this story, or at least the base of it, to be true but I'm not sure. It's definitely plausible and insightful and the main character's reactions make perfect sense, especially as an adult. (I'm trying very hard not to ruin the story line!) The only reason that I gave it 4 stars rather than 5 is because I got confused and lost a couple of times as the memories in the story bounce back and forth in time, just as memories actually do. Excellent, smooth writing and speech. I would love to read more of this author's work!Product details

Great first person account of the struggles of breaking free of the mind control practiced by cults.
Great product
This book definitely held my attention and was written in a fresh literary style. Gave me a good glimpse into what his life was like growing up in the cult as well as some of the hardships he faced after leaving.
All I can say is this abusive cult was not able to destroy an amazingly gifted writer. I'm not sure "Kenny Lenox" is an author by profession now. But he should be. It takes mad alchemy to turn a depressing and frightening existence into something that doesn't skirt the truth but is at the same deliciously entertaining and laugh out loud funny. It reminds me of Permanent Midnight, another of my favorites. Dear Kenny Lenox, please write more!!!!
I found this book to be very interesting as the topic fascinates me. The author skips around quite a bit from different periods of his life, so it's not very fluid. I feel like there are a lot of holes and missing pieces to the story, but the author does write that he is doing this for him and his book may not even really have an ending. Still interesting.
incredibly well-written. I enjoyed reading even though the topic is painful. Very insightful and rings true to my experiences. I like that everything isn't spelled out chronologically or conclusions drawn for me... a lot like the author's bewilderment, I imagine. Well done.
Wow! I cannot say enough good things about the author, Kenny Lenox. He is not critical of the religious cult where he lived part of his life , he is honest. He does not complain about how loving there affected his life. It is reflected in his writing. The trauma he endured did break him, from what I read in his book he is recovering and it is my hope he continues to do well on his path to recovery. Kenny I hope you write a follow book.
